Ink Series - graphic preview

Post recent work in development involving ink in water Photography and renderings. Produces a lovely depth of image, graphic, almost drawn or painted illustration effect. Subsequently regarding this apparent obsession with ink and canvas, and the digitisation and production/ printing of this process, and more technical and note work, will possibly follow at some later date somewhere.

Travel Memoir Mar.18.13

"I try so hard, please don't let me be misunderstood..." - Nina Simone

Cabin pressurised. thoughts and emotions mingle. I am in 30F, amidst the returning progeny of the east, travellers and people of the world. I am neatly sandwiched between two mothers, carrying their babes on lap. One from the mountains, the other playing with a symbol book. Taxing. Thoughts ready to fly
Of Monsters and men playing: "Alrighty then." Cotton earbuds provided to babes to reduce altitude/ pressure ear pops. Mothers cling tight. Protect ears with cupped hands, She the mountain one is restless at take-off. Reaches out and transfers baby grip to my hands. I give energy. Flying. Take to skies. As I write, receive signals from all around to divert my attention; I keep writing. Feel expanding in the air.
Expanding of the thoughts, feelings try to be involved, but I write on. I learn about form and intent, from maternal energies in presence. Nusrat delivers full volume. Babies are fidgety and sensitive to every condition and shift.

Heartful

"The Images in my mind, I find
Are there long before their design
Who then, designed the mind is Great,
beyond time and divine, sublime

It is the Designer's Image the mind sees
Tell me, did he put his own reflection there?
For you to see me? For where am I, or You
If we are but reflections of an image?

Not in place, and not in time
For if we go toward the image
We must move away from that reflection
And farther we move away together
The true image gets stronger.

Which men show courage to do this?
Tell me where hope and fear lie?
Where faith resides it burns away any wall or door.
Out in the open, those who seek with heart
Are full of life and empty no more."

It is a Narrow Temple

It is a narrow temple
It is a holy tomb
it will decide the future when
all is at peace with self

it is one at times
but time is lost to the one that lives
and the one that IS need not fear time
for unity is their domain

help me to help
leave me to see, when there is fear there
is hope to imagine. the word is a fruit
the tree is the root, the leaf is the tree
the root is the leaf, the flower is the bee
tell me what it is that i see?

tell me about knowledge friend and
i'll show us all mountebanks
that which is a breath on the sun
shall fall upon your skin
melting, bending to time lost
lost is not lost but gained love
dig deep to find the self same friend, friend

the medicine for my soul
is in your cupboard
the river of your smile is within my
lingering slumber, alive and awake
both prey to silence
yet grow in eyelids
fluttering wings, real words stay within uttering
breaths of comfort

but i am truly me when
both vowels join the alphabet
a, e, o also have their
place with u and i… dear come near

The Island

"we are drawn apart by circumstance
and will come together through necessity
for real love in this life is a necessity"

that is what the sea whispered to me… I had rarely the chance to find myself water locked, since i was on some small lake islands in lake Malawi. Water is the open channel that touches all land: earth, and air moves of its own reason. I was on St Martin Island, little known, but how can i put it, "hauntingly beautiful". Crab and lobster is fresh and traditional, and a couple of roadside coconuts to acclimatise to the island, chai at the market, then a swim in the rock pools.

Frozen Languages

The language of the land is emotive, and frozen, like some 1960's nostalgia, breathing and dreaming of futures without imagination. But the rain comes and washes away the fog, bringing with it a wave of heat and humidity. I am just outside the outskirts of the dusty city, breathing lighter, smog and truck smokes left in the trail outbound from the city. As the rain descends, I take shelter with a chicken and three people make up the frame as if they had been waiting for the lens.
The rain clears and I am once again led by my feet to a bridge where freedom on the horizon is a river and a distant humming of motor engines precariously fitted by wires tied on to the back of little boats.
The kids playing on the bridge have turned it into their diving platform and I take a few moments with them, partaking in their excitement of being captured in mid air as they dive into the river's arms.
'Welcome, welcome, brother capture me in your modern technology and freeze me in your digital world, so that they may glimpse the moment where i am frozen in the air, that brief moment of gravity where my soul is laughing.'

A Puff of Smoke Against a Mountain - The Heart Grows Glad

"Nothing cheap without reason"
                                                     - Proverb

Recent ramble through nepal was in a way another much needed break, properly got my travel bug again. the country and people were just wicked, lots of good eating and drinks about the place... Pokhara is a northernly 'touristish' spot and idyllic really, and two days certainly aren't enough. Peace abounds, which is much welcomed from that oh so familiar big city dwelling syndrome, you know the one: four walls and misintegrated information. Kathmandu's awesome too, got a very mixed and dynamic sort of vibe.
